FOR DESKTOP CHROME AND EDGE
On-page SEO checker
for Chrome and Edge.
Check the page you are working on before the next update goes live. Trojan Website Checker shows the markup behind each finding, explains what needs a closer look and lets you export a fix list.
Version 1.0.1. Development release for manual installation. Chrome and Edge store listings are not live yet.
See the evidence behind 12 checks
Review the page title, meta description, H1, robots directives, canonical URL, empty headings, image alt attributes, JSON-LD, language, viewport, HTTPS URL and Open Graph metadata.
Open a finding to see the values the checker actually found. Use the Headings tab to read the page outline, the Links tab to search destinations and inspect link attributes, and the Schema tab to inspect detected JSON-LD types.
Keep the work in your browser
You run each check on the page you have open. There is no account to create, and the extension does not send your report to a server.
Save a text report to work through the findings, or export JSON for your own tools. Read the extension privacy policy.
Review a page before publishing
Look for a title that still says “Home”, an empty description, a staging noindex directive or a canonical pointing at another domain. Use the reported values to decide whether the markup matches the page's purpose.
After changing your CMS or template, reload the page and run the same check again. The extension reads the rendered top-level page, so it can help you review markup added by JavaScript.
Hand a developer a specific fix
Export the page URL, checks and evidence with the report. Share the affected heading, canonical value or link destination instead of asking someone to “improve SEO” without context.
A missing image alt attribute needs review. An empty alt attribute can be intentional for a decorative image. Link labels report the actual nofollow, sponsored and ugc attributes; their absence is labeled “Unqualified”.
Install the development version
- Download and extract the extension ZIP.
- Open
chrome://extensionsin Chrome oredge://extensionsin Edge. - Turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and select the folder with
manifest.json. - Open a webpage, click the extension icon and choose Check this page.
The ZIP is for manual developer installation. This desktop extension does not install in iPhone or Android Chrome. The preview uses sample pages and does not scan the page you are visiting.
What the report covers
The checker reads the current page's top-level markup. It does not measure rankings, indexing, speed, security or rich result eligibility. It does not fetch linked pages, robots.txt or HTTP headers. Large pages use inspection limits shown in the report. A clear result means the specific check found no review item in the inspected data.
JSON-LD checks cover JSON syntax and detected types. They do not validate every schema property or confirm eligibility for Google rich results. A canonical tag is a signal in the page; the checker cannot determine Google's selected canonical. “Unqualified” describes the absence of specific link attributes and does not guarantee crawling or ranking credit.
Use the report alongside your actual search data. The Search Opportunity Finder works with your Search Console export. For a public page without installing an extension, try the website auditor.
