A Social Media Calendar for Avon, Built on Town Events

A social media calendar for a small Avon business can simply follow the Town's own events. Plan a post before, during and after Night at the Park, the Heritage Festival and the fall parks events, then fill the quiet weeks with your own work.

A plan moving from scope to delivery and review

A social media calendar that works for a small Avon business starts with the Town's own event list. Plan a post before, during and after the events your customers actually go to. In 2026 that meant Night at the Park in July, the Heritage Festival in September and the Harvest Hayrides in October. Fill the weeks between with posts about your own work, and you have a year of content without inventing reasons to post.

Why Avon's own calendar beats a generic content list

Generic idea lists don't know your town. They can't tell you that Night at the Park sends drivers to church parking lots. They also miss that the parks calendar put a 5k and a hayride festival on the same October day. Avon's events give you dates your neighbors already have on the fridge, which makes posts about them feel local from the start.

The calendar also has to fit the people doing the posting. The Greater Avon Chamber of Commerce says 90 percent of its 270+ members are small businesses with 25 or fewer employees. In a business that size, social media is often one more job for the owner. A short list of town events, with three posts each, is a plan that kind of team can keep.

“You don't need to dream up things to post in Avon, because the Town publishes its year for you. Pick the events your customers go to and plan around those. Skip the rest.”

Jeff Clerisier, founder of Trojan Digital Marketing

There's a local hook in the chamber itself. Towne Post reported in May 2026 that the chamber is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and members can tie a post to it any time this year. The Town's community profile adds more material. It counts 30 parks and 5 golf courses within 7 miles of the center of town, at US 36 and Avon Avenue.

Nearly every event in this post happens along US 36. The parks calendar puts most of the Town's own events at Avon Town Hall Park and Blue Heron Park, which share Town Hall's address. Washington Township Park sits on US 36 just west of SR 267 and is home to the Heritage Festival and Rib Fest. The big exception is the Big Go at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg.

July: Night at the Park and its parking instructions

Night at the Park is the Town's big summer night. In 2026 it ran on Friday, July 3, from 6 to 10 pm, with food trucks, live music on the Town Hall patio, face painting and fireworks. The Town's calendar listed it at Blue Heron Park, which shares Town Hall's address at 6570 East US Highway 36.

The parking note is worth reposting word for word. The Town's event page said there's no parking at Avon Town Hall. Visitors were sent to Avon United Methodist Church, Avon Parkside Church of the Nazarene and Avon Intermediate School East and West. A bus ran from Avon Intermediate School East to the Methodist church lot. The Town also signed up food vendors ahead of time and posted an interactive map showing vendors, activities and shuttles.

That gives a business its posts without much effort. A few days out, share the parking list along with your own hours for the day. On the night, post a photo from your booth or storefront, and thank the people who came by the next morning. Next year's date isn't posted yet, so check the Town's event page in the spring.

September: the Heritage Festival, Rib Fest and the Big Go next door

September stacks up fast. The Town's community profile calls Washington Township Park the home of the Avon Community Heritage Festival and the Hendricks County Rib Fest. The park's facility page says the Heritage Festival runs in September, and the Town estimates more than 100,000 people visit the park each year.

Neither page gave 2026 dates for the festival or Rib Fest, so confirm each year's dates before you schedule anything. The parks calendar adds smaller September dates too. In 2026 it listed a Salsa Under the Stars date night on September 12 and a Kite Festival on September 20.

The Big Go lands in September too. The NHRA U.S. Nationals, nicknamed the Big Go, run each Labor Day weekend at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg. The 2026 race ran from Wednesday, September 2 to Monday, September 7. The track sits in Brownsburg, so say that plainly in any race week post. What you can post about is your side of the weekend, such as longer hours or a parking note for your own customers.

October: Apple Mash Dash, Harvest Hayrides and Town Hall Trick or Treat

October fills up too. In 2026 the parks calendar put the Apple Mash Dash 5k Walk/Run on October 10, from 2 to 4 pm at the North Park Playground. The Harvest Hayrides Festival followed the same day, from 4 to 8 pm at Blue Heron Park. In 2025 the race started and finished on the north side of Avon Town Hall Park, and runners could take a free hay ride back.

The Town's profile describes Avon Town Hall Park as 82.5 acres, with walking trails, a nine acre lake and an 18 hole disc golf course. That makes it an easy backdrop for photos on any fall weekend. For a lighter October post, the same profile lists the Haunted Bridge over White Lick Creek in the town's history.

The next date on the calendar is Town Hall Trick or Treat on Friday, October 30, from 10 am to noon in the Town Hall Council Chambers. The Town's event listing says it's free and set up for toddlers, young families and visitors of any age with sensory needs. The rooms will have very low music, plenty of light and a quiet atmosphere. A business that serves families can still share it the day before.

The quiet weeks between events

Plenty of weeks have no town event at all. Use them for posts only your business can make. Answer a question customers ask on the phone, show a finished job or a new product, or introduce the person who picks up when someone calls. Plan these in one sitting each month, so the quiet weeks don't turn into silence.

Smaller town dates can fill gaps too. The parks calendar showed the Avon Farmers Market opening on June 2, 2026, from 4 to 7 pm. It sets up in the Hendricks Regional Health parking lot on US 36, just east of the Dan Jones intersection. The Annual Fall Tree Sale ran through August at Avon Town Hall Park. Next up is the Avon Tree Lighting and Carriage Rides on November 28, from 4 to 6 pm at Blue Heron Park.

Seasons matter as much as events. If your work slows in winter or picks up in spring, our post on seasonal marketing budget planning helps you match posting to the months that pay. A short creative brief keeps the quiet week posts consistent when more than one person writes them.

Three posts per event: before, during and after

Each event gets the same three posts. Keep them short, and write them in your own voice.

Before

Post the date, the place and the Town's parking note a few days ahead. Add your own hours for that day, and anything you're doing for the crowd.

During

Post one photo or a short video from the event or your storefront while people can still come by. A short vertical video is easy to shoot on a phone, and editing it well is a skill of its own.

One Google review of our short video editing reads like this.

“The best TikTok and YouTube short editor!”

Funny Joey, Google review

After

Thank the people who came, share a few photos with permission, and point to the next date on the Town's calendar. If you had a booth at Night at the Park, tag the Town's page in your thank you.

What to track so the calendar earns its time

Track only what you can act on. Tag every link in your posts with UTM parameters, so your analytics shows which event sent visitors. Our free campaign URL builder makes those tags in a batch. Then keep a simple sheet with the event, the post, the date, clicks, calls and messages.

After each event, compare that week with a quiet week. Keep the events that bring calls or messages, and drop the ones that never move anything. If you'd rather hand off the posting, our social media management team plans and publishes on a calendar like this one. The Avon business marketing guide shows where social fits with the rest of your marketing, and the Avon business guide collects the town's roads and parks.

Quick answers about an Avon social calendar

How many posts should a small Avon business plan for each event?

Plan three. Share the date, place and parking note a few days before, post a photo or short clip on the day, and thank people with photos afterward. For a team of one or two, that's enough to show up around the events your customers care about without posting every day.

Which Avon events belong on a business social calendar?

Start with the Town's own list. In 2026 that meant Night at the Park on July 3 and the Heritage Festival at Washington Township Park in September. October brought the Apple Mash Dash and Harvest Hayrides, and the Tree Lighting follows on November 28. Add the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Brownsburg over Labor Day weekend.

What should I post when there's no town event?

Post things only your business can show. Answer a question customers ask on the phone, show a finished job or a new product, or introduce the person who picks up when someone calls. Plan these in one sitting each month so the quiet weeks don't go silent.

How do I know if event posts are working?

Tag each link with UTM parameters, then compare clicks, calls and messages from event weeks against quiet weeks. Keep a simple sheet with the event, the post and what came in. After a few events, keep the ones that bring inquiries and drop the rest.
